At major tournaments like these, I think an RFD should be not only available, but mandatory. This is, as Josh W. articulated, an educational activity. Our students deserve the feedback from judges–so long as what they’re required to submit doesn’t place an undue burden on them, in terms of submitting a timely ballot, keeping their thoughts straight, and making sure the tournament runs on time.
I also believe this should be the case at the National Championship. Even if there are no more tournaments to make adjustments on that speech, they still deserve an explanation as to why they won or lost.
