Host an In-Person Event

As an in-person event host, you’ll gather alumni and friends for a meaningful event in your home, office, or a local venue to raise support for the National Speech & Debate Initiative.

This can be a:

  • Happy Hour
  • Dinner Party
  • Dessert Rection
  • Coffee or Lunch Chat

Ideal guest size: 10–30 guests
Planning window: 4–6 weeks

Alumni Ambassador Responsibilities
  • Choose your audience and goal (i.e. 20 attendees and $10,000) 
  • Select a date and time 
  • Secure a location (house, office, coffee shop) 
  • Cover or coordinate light event costs (if applicable)
  • Identify and invite alumni from your network (we provide templates) 
  • Personally encourage attendance (1–2 reminder messages)
  • Welcome guests and share a short personal story during the event
  • Make a personal gift and invite others to join you
How the NSDA Supports You
  • An event “toolkit” (pledge cards, name tags, balloons, and applicable swag)
  • Custom RSVP and donation link
  • Invitation templates and follow-up messaging
  • NSDI talking points
  • Post-event follow-up and gift processing
  • If the goal is $20,000 or more, an in-person NSDA representative
