Hosting a forensics tournament on a campus provides a number of benefits for students, faculty members, and the institution. Whether the tournament is large or small, a successful tournament requires careful planning and organization in the months leading up to the event. The information in this professional development session is designed to provide a basic understanding of strategies for successful tournament preparation and operations. Specific topics to be discussed include general tournament logistics, responsibilities of different members of the tournament staff, and the benefits of hosting a tournament. A packet of supplemental information to assist in the planning and running of a tournament will be provided for all participants. Led by Dr. Jackson Miller, Linfield College.

Forensic students are in a unique position to help a campus facilitate difficult conversations. Students can help others understand their own perspectives so that they can present it more effectively. Post-election many students are afraid to engage in difficult conversations. Listening, understanding, and sharing can clear the way for effective dialogue. Join us to talk about how one team is making this work. Led by Katie Brunner, Simpson College.
