I’m leaving my position as Professional Communication teacher/Forensics coach and assured my principal that I’d see to it that she has a capable person in my shoes.
I created the curriculum for Prof Comm which is used throughout the district. Looking for a dynamic educator to bring it to life!
Team is number 1 in district and UIL district second consecutive year Ava three times overall.
School is an A rated campus, situated in Acres Homes, in the Ike9 building while the old school is demolished and rebuilt.
Forensics Coaching & Program Leadership
• Serve as Forensics Coach / Program Lead for Speech & Debate teams.
• Develop and maintain coaching resources, rubrics, and training workshops for a geographically distributed team.
• Provide virtual and in-person mentoring, personalized feedback cycles, and resource packs to coaches and students.
• Analyze competition results and performance metrics to identify needs and create targeted interventions that drive success.
• Coordinate logistics, communications, and onboarding for new coaches, volunteers, and team members.
• Lead teams to compete and excel at district, regional, and state levels.
Student & Stakeholder Engagement
• Foster strong relationships with students, parents, faculty, and community partners through strategic communication and outreach.
• Promote an inclusive, high-energy learning environment that supports student success and program excellence.
• Support remote/hybrid instruction and digital tools to enhance accessibility and engagement.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Communication, Speech Communication, Journalism, Education, or a closely related field.
• Valid Texas Teaching Certificate (or eligibility to obtain one) with appropriate endorsements for Speech, Journalism, or English Language Arts.
• Demonstrated experience coaching Speech & Debate / Forensics teams with a track record of competitive success.
• Strong data-analysis skills and experience using data to improve instruction and program outcomes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Proficiency with educational technology (Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office, Google Classroom, Zoom, Canva, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience designing district-wide curriculum or professional development resources.
• Proven success coaching teams to top rankings (district, regional, or state level).
• Master’s degree in Education, Higher Education Leadership, or Communication.
• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
