Head Speech & Debate Coach

Speech & Debate Head Coach + Faculty position

Cardinal Gibbons High School has an established, competitive speech and debate program and is looking for an experienced head coach to lead the program. The school enrollment is 1,150 students in grades 9 -12.

Debate Coaching & Program Leadership

•  Serve as Speech & Debate Coach / Program Lead for Speech & Debate from August to June.

•  Mentor, provide feedback, and resources for 35 – 50 students on the team

•  Recruit novices at Club Day school events early in the school year

•  Analyze competition results and ballots to identify needs and create supports to improve competitive success

•  Coordinate logistics, communications, and onboarding for new coaches, parent volunteers, chaperones, judges, and team members

•  Lead teams to compete and excel at district, state, and national circuits

•  Organize field trips for States, Harvard, TOC, NSDA Nationals, etc.

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Speech Communication, Journalism, Education, English, Social Studies or a closely related field.

•  Experience coaching speech and debate at the high school level

•  Ability to teach English, Social Studies, and/or speech and debate courses for grades 9-12
