In partnership with Colorado College and presented by the Alben W. Barkley Forum for Debate, Deliberation & Dialogue, we will host selected NSDA members at the 2019 NSDA Inclusion Workshop, August 7-8 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The workshop, Courageous Conversation facilitated by the Pacific Educational Group, Inc., teaches a protocol for discussing race in productive, insightful, and generative ways. Participants will:
- Strengthen their critical consciousness of race.
- Practice using strategies for identifying and addressing the policies, programs, and practices that negatively impact student of color achievement and serve as barriers to all students receiving a world class education.
- Learn a protocol they can use at their schools and in their classrooms long after the workshop ends.
Our facilitators have strongly recommended that the demographics of the teacher/coach workshop participants reflect the demographics of the group we seek to impact—that is, the national pool of middle and high school students in the United States. Space at the workshop is limited.
Applications for the 2019 Inclusion Workshop are now closed and applicants have been notified of their status.
