In Extemporaneous Speaking, students have limited time to prepare a speech on a domestic or international topic. Students will develop the ability to synthesize complex information quickly and form a clear, persuasive argument.
These lessons will develop and assess a student’s understanding of important political, economic, and cultural issues, along with critical thinking and analytical skills.

Students Will Be Able To:

  • Research, outline, and deliver an original speech from memory with limited preparation.
  • Evaluate the credibility and accuracy of a variety of sources.
  • Present information, findings, and supporting evidence clearly, concisely, and logically such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning.
  • Adapt speech to a variety of contexts and tasks by utilizing nonverbal communication, vocabulary, and the tone, rate, volume, and pitch of their voice.
