Digital unprinted publications such as videos, audio files, and films are permitted to be used with a few additional rules. Remember, all material must meet the general rules requiring that the original source is publicly accessible via an internet search or URL, and the website must not be password protected or require an access code.
Additionally, if using video/audio material, competitors must also present a printed official transcript of the original source to be used in the case of a protest. What is an official transcript? There are two ways in to obtain an official transcript:
- An official transcript is obtained through the original source’s producer, licensing agent, or copyright holder.
- Or, an official transcript is obtained through an official transcription service such as TranscribeMe, Scribie, or iScribed, which use non-automated, manual transcription. Then, the competitor receives approval to perform the transcription by the original source’s producer, licensing agent, or copyright holder.
